IDAA Co-Presidents attend the Dental Council of New South Wales stakeholder event

Earlier this month, Dr Jess Manuela and Dr Jodi Hart were invited to speak about the work of IDAA at the Dental Council of New South Wales. The theme for this event was Working to protect the public, with key stakeholders from the across dental profession talking about the role of their organisations in the protection of the public; the delivery of safe care, and/or practitioner and student education.

Dr Manuela and Dr Hart spoke about IDAA’s commitment to supporting a dental health sector that upholds equality, justice and human dignity for all. They highlighted the need for a comprehensive approach involving education and awareness, policy reforms and active engagement to eradicate racial discrimination and create a future where every person is treated with fairness, respect and dignity, regardless of their race or ethnicity.

Dr Manuela and Dr Hart also provided a summary of key highlights from the IDAA conference held last December in Kaurna Country, and shared IDAA’s upcoming plans to develop a student recruitment and retention strategy for oral health programs.
