Kaya, I’m Hira. I’m a Yamajti Aboriginal woman with Afghan heritage, with family ties to Badimaya Country in Western Australia. I currently live and work on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja in Perth.
I work as a dentist and also teach dental students at the University of Western Australia. I have a strong interest in community and public health, and I’m passionate about supporting more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dental professionals to enter and thrive in the profession.
I’m really proud to be part of the Indigenous Dental Association Australia and the connections it creates between Indigenous dental professionals across the country. I’m excited to contribute as a director and support the work IDAA is doing for our communities.
My superpower is… mum mode. Powered by love, snacks and coffee and the ability to negotiate with a toddler like a professional.
