Indigenous dental students can face unique challenges in their undergraduate life. Support from family and friends is difficult to maintain long-distance if you’ve moved away for study or if you’re the first in your family to go to university. Added to that, student clinical facilities are often located off-campus, leaving students isolated from the university’s Indigenous support. So that dental students can complete their studies, we make sure they get the academic and cultural support they need. They can then move confidently into the dental workforce with an established network of Indigenous contacts.
New graduates also benefit from the continued clinical and cultural support that IDAA mentoring provides.
